Feedback on CA1

Dear all,

You would have received your report book today. Remember to get your parents to sign on the first page as well as your results page and return it by Friday, 7 March 2008. You would have realised that we have changed the Bands to Grades now. The reason being that it would be in tandem with what you get during PSLE. A quick recap of the range of marks for the various grades:
A*: 91 & above
A: 75-90
B: 60-74
C: 50-59
D: 35-49
E: 20-34
U: Below 20

Anything below grade C is a failing grade.

A note to parents: There is a rather big jump from P4 to P5. The concepts are more in-depth and therefore a drop of around 5-10 marks is actually quite normal for the first CA1. This is especially the case since the girls are probably not used to the idea of having exams for CA1 yet. However, this should not be an excuse for the entire year. They should be able to slowly adapt and improve along the way. Of course, they would need to work harder. It would be good if you could help reinforce the importance of revising their work daily at home as well. At the same time, you could sit down with your daughter and help her review her targets set earlier this year and work out a plan together. For instance, revising daily for 30-45 minutes or making it a point to do 5 word problems everyday. A little goes a long way. Especially for Math, practising more will definitely make a difference =).

P/S: I will upload the softcopy of the newsletter given today tomorrow because I have accidentally left it in school. I'm so sorry.
